
View from Cenotaph Square
This building is located in the very heart of central Hong Kong, facing the formal landscaped expanse of Cenotaph Square. The two uses of club and offices are kept strictly separate. The club maintains its private entry in the old axial location facing the Cenotaph and the offices entering from the wide side street.
The club occupies the podium of the building to a four-storey height with almost total site cover and the offices above, the permissible two-thirds of the area.
The office structure straddles the club podium and generates the expressive image of the whole building: the 34 m long facade and 17 m internal spans. The absence of any interior columns created the required freedom for the club to plan internal spaces below.
